Blogging 101
Catholic Committee Members! Blogging is Simple!
As Members of the Catholic Committee, you have the opportunity to blog on our website! Here, blogging can be another form of ministry - another medium to reach youth! Share your stories, your insights, and your resources on the Scouting Blogs page under the Resources tab!
START BLOGGING NOW! Just follow these simple instructions:
1. First, start by logging into the Office of Catholic Scouting website. Click here for help logging in.
2. After you have successfully logged in, you may begin blogging by clicking the Scouting Blogs link under the Resources tab at the top of the page.
3. Click the "Create new blog entry" link.
4. There are only a few things you need to know while creating your blog entry:
A. Title: this field is required for each blog and will be the heading that will show on the Scouting Blogs page.
B. Body: this is where you will write your blog entry. Most of the editing options are similar to Microsoft Word.You may also copy and paste your text from Microsoft Word.
To make a link to another page:
- In a new browser window, go to the page you want to link. Select the text in the address bar and copy it.
- Now, go to the page you want to add the link to and make sure you're in EDIT mode.
- Highlight the text you'd like to use as a link, and click the like button (chain icon).
- Paste the text you copied earlier into the "Link URL" text field.
- Click the OK button.
C. File Attachments: You have the opportunity to attach files to your blog.
- Click "File Attachments".
- Click "Browse".
- In the file open window that comes up, browse to your specific file, click on it (once) and click "Open".
- Click "Attach" and wait for the file to be uploaded on the website.
D. Save!!! Before leaving the page, click "Save". If you attached anything, it will show up at the bottom of the page.
